I like Facebook, and it's helped me reconnect with a couple people I've missed for a long time, but outside of that I'm not sure I really have it figured out.

Unless I really have it figured out.

I love LiveJournal and the sense of community I have here, so I was a bit surprised to find that I also like Facebook. I just tried to find you on Fb, but failed. So, if you want your LJ friends to be friends on Fb, tell us where to find you.

I'm at http://www.facebook.com/people/Pamela-D-Lloyd/1630964841 (http://www.facebook.com/people/Pamela-D-Lloyd/1630964841).

Most important tip: Don't list your phone number in your profile.
Next most important tip: You will receive many invitations to play games or otherwise interact with applications; choose the invitations you accept wisely and sparingly, unless you have far too much spare time on your hands.

Ha ha! Spare time! You are so funny! ::weeps::

Yes, friends from LJ would be great. Now I just need to figure out how to link to my profile all clever-like.

Aha!

It does not like me in the search box because my name is too long. This is a problem.

the names are more interesting than the jewelry on the whole.

Facebook has privacies and protections that are a little harder to find than LJ, but very useful. I am glad to see you chose to use your own name instead of toying with a pseudonym. You really don't have to add any of the applications, most of them are time-wasters, but it's a great way to stay in contact.

The names do definitely add value. It's clever.

For the pseudonyms, I am not so much. I attach my real name to pretty much everything I do. Most writers follow the same lead.

Is it just me, or is there no way to lock a certain note/status message to a custom list of people?

as far as I can tell that is correct.

Pity. That's one of the nicest features about LJ.

true.

But overall a journal or diary has quite a different purpose than a facebook. We used facebooks at the various schools I attended to literally put faces to names and addresses.
