Naps

I swear, my sleep capacity has doubled. Okay, that's an exaggeration. But I used to function on just under 8 hours. These days? I need to be in bed at 9 PM unless I've already had a 3-hour nap in the afternoon.

Did I mention the naps? They eat my productivity like whoah. But on the days when I'm not going in to NgithOwl to work, they are almost irresistible. The senior center afternoons (I work one evening, one afternoon, and one morning every week) are even worse. The old lady tends to take a nap then, and I swear she's pumping out sleep pheromones. I can sit in the living room with my laptop, fully intending to get work done, and I end up struggling to keep my eyes open.

So the last two days in a row? Afternoon naps. The cats love it. They think I am finally spending my time sensibly.

Circus of Brass and Bone Writing Log

Total

Episode 12

New words: 421 (It was actually more than that, but I deleted a large chunk of previously written scene that was no longer needed. The perils of writing out-of-order!)
Total words: 68,283
Overused word: monkey
Gratuitous word: skittered
Type of scene: Fooled you!
Challenge(s): Integrating previously written scenelets with current narrative.
Which line is it anyways? In retrospect, I'm very grateful that I did no such thing. If I had, our bones would be mouldering in that forest, a freak show curiosity for anyone who found them.
Notes: How many episodes am I going to spend in New York anyway? Harrumph.
Other writingy stuff:
* Posted writing log.
* Freewriting warmup because it was writing itself in my head.

Conrad Zero and I have been recording MinnSpec (Minnesota Speculative Fiction Writers Group) meetings, wherein we discuss various aspects of the writing craft. The latest podcast is about how to give presentations.

If you're interested in giving it a listen, parts I and II are here:
