So I'm at the new job right now. I've committed to two weeks, the agency said they need someone for six, and it sounds like the woman might be gone for twelve. WTF.
Apparently, this is the situation. Woman going on maternity leave, thought she had a week before labor, went to the doctor, doctor said they would induce labor the next day. So they got a temp in to train on her last day here. The temp disappeared during lunch and called the temp agency to say she wouldn't be back. Apparently felt "overwhelmed and undertrained." The job isn't that rough. Much of it is stuff I haven't done before, but it seems straightforward enough. The only part that's rough is this whole two weeks turning into twelve thing. They're bending over backwards to be nice, too; they really like me. Argh.
Basically, I'm "secretary" for a couple of committees. So I draw up memos/minutes/agendas etc. and do a little light office work. Lots of spare time. Depending on how much, I might actually stay. Sigh...money! If I do stay, I'm asking for a raise.
And I'm away from home a long time, which is sad.
